Adam Tilrow Morrison

Adam Morrison died Thursday, August 16, 2012, concluding a long, courageous fight with cancer.

Adam was born and raised in Lakeland where he attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and Santa Fe Catholic High School. He was a senior honors student at Florida State University. He is survived by his parents, Joseph and Lynne Morrison, sisters, Colleen and Claire Morrison, Grandparents, Alys Morrison and David and Colleen Gardner, Uncle and Aunt, Brian and Ruth E. Gardner, Cousins, Erin Morrison Luke and Addison Luke, and many other members of a large, loving, extended family.

Adam lived life to the fullest and possessed a seemingly endless reserve of optimism and good humor. No matter what setbacks he faced, he never complained or questioned, but continued to meet his challenges in a positive way.

He loved all sports, and was an accomplished soccer and tennis player. He was Captain of his high school cross country team at Santa Fe. He also loved the outdoors, and was an avid fisherman.

Adam was an ambassador for Lakeland Sister City’s program with Imabari, Japan, hosting many Japanese students and traveling to Imabari twice. He was very involved with cancer-related charities, including Relay for Life at Florida State University and Tennis for Tumors.

Adam was kind and compassionate, faithful and loyal. Time with Adam was full of fun and laughter. He loved his family and friends, and his life was an inspiration to many.

Adam’s family wishes to thank the many people who have prayed for Adam and have showered us with love and kindness over the years. You will all remain in our hearts.

A visitation for Adam will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Lakeland, Florida, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Monday, August 20, 2012. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Tuesday at 4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Adam’s name to the Monsignor John P. Caulfield Legacy Fund for St. Joseph’s Catholic School, 310 McDonald Street, Lakeland, Florida, 33803, or the Santa Fe Catholic High School Scholarship Fund, 3110 Highway 92 East, Lakeland, Florida 33801.
