Heath is the only funeral home in Polk County to be recognized by the Green Burial Council (GBC) as a green funeral home and the only funeral home in the state of Florida to achieve the highest ranking of “Three Leafs” by the GBC.
What is a Green Burial?
A green burial is a burial that minimally impacts the environment. The requirements for a green burial include:
- No embalming fluids or an eco-friendly GBC approved post-mortem fluid would be used.
- An eco-friendly burial container such as a burial shroud. Click here to view our selection
- No vaults for the burial
- A green burial cemetery – There are different types of green cemeteries but all green cemeteries must allow for eco-friendly burial containers and for the burial to occur without embalming or the use of vaults.
