GEORGE KALIVAS, 93 LAKELAND - George Kalivas, 93 passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015, in Lakeland, FL. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy. During his professional career, George owned several restaurants in Philadelphia and Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Following his retirement, he moved to Lakeland, FL, in 1995, from Bucks County, PA, where he resided until his passing. He was a parishioner at St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church. While at St. Josephs he was active with the Bereavement and Grief Ministry, the Catholic War Veterans and the "Life After 50" group. He enjoyed visiting different parts of the United States while attending his Navy reunions for the U.S.S. Crawley. He was predeceased by his wife, Cecelia and his daughter Cecelia Flis. He is survived by his brother Stanley and wife Dorothy Kalivas of Philadelphia. Also son-in-law John Flis of Holland, PA, and granddaughter Adrienne and Steve Vance of Newton, PA. His daughter Cynthia and Kenneth McCay and grandsons David McCay, wife Christine, Darin McCay, wife Nicole of Massachusetts. Also four great-grandchildren: Isabella Vance, Samuel McCay, Nicholas McCay and Wesley McCay. A visitation will be held Friday, February 20, at 1:00 pm at St. Joseph""s Catholic Church and Service following.
