Monique Mariette Whitehead

Monique M. (Facon) Whitehead (89) passed from this life in Lakeland, FL on May 18th, 2018. Monique was born July 1928 in Paris, France. Monique is survived by her son Rev. William (Barbara) Whitehead, grandchildren Rebecca Anderson, Sean Whitehead, Michael Whitehead, Krista Knight and Jessica Bumbalough, and many great grandchildren. Monique is preceded in death by her parents, Honore Jules Henri Facon and Angele Marie (Fieshi) Facon, her husband, Irvin William (Bill) Whitehead, and her son, James Errol Whitehead. Monique and Bill met and fell in love in Paris, France during WWII. They were married and lived in Key West, FL for many years. Monique was never really one to just sit around. She loved knitting, gardening, reading, and making clothes for herself and the family. Besides being a housewife and mother, she volunteered her time to the PTA, Scouts, Band Boosters and other school, social clubs and the community groups. She worked in nursing, retail sales and a number of other occupations. She also was a pet fancier, loved animals, especially dogs. She and her husband Bill retired to Lakeland, FL in 1983. A memorial service will be held at Heath Funeral Chapel on Sunday, June 3rd at 4pm. Interment will be at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
