Mr. Ralph Walker Weeks, 85, went to his heavenly home on June 28th, 2016 while in his Lakeland residence surrounded by his family. Mr. Weeks was born in Winter Haven, FL, on August 18th, 1930 to LeRoy and Emly (Walker) Weeks. He was predeceased by sisters Cleo Harmon, Eloise Hood, and brother James Weeks. A seventh generation Floridian, Mr. Weeks graduated from Haines City High School and went on to study at the University of Florida. He married Jeannine Almburg, the love of his life, on April 7th, 1951. Together they had two children, Vicki May (Ronald) and Stephen Weeks (Debbie) and six grandchildren, Heather Rhoden (Jason), Shane Weeks (Ivory), Ashley May, Brittany Griego (Christopher), Greyson May, and Taylor McDermott (Patrick). They are blessed with five great grandchildren, Walker Weeks, Riley Rhoden, Gage Rhoden, Ridge Rhoden, and Kaleb May. In addition to serving in the US Navy for four years aboard the aircraft carrier, the USS Essex, Mr. Weeks was always very proud of his Eagle Scout badge from his days as a Boy Scout. A farm boy at heart, he loved spending time with his family and friends at his Green Swamp Lodge in Polk City. As founder of Quality Petroleum Corp. (Lakeland, FL and Birmingham, AL) and owner of Smith Brothers Oil, Mr. Weeks served in many capacities throughout the Lakeland community.He sat on the Board of Trustees for First Baptist Church at the Mall for 25 years, served as Chairman of the Board for the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce, and Chairman of the Board for Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He previously sat on the boards of the Lakeland Symphony Orchestra, Polk Theatre, the Lakeland Economic Development Council, Lakeland Yacht and County Club, Lakeland Museum of Art, Leadership Lakeland, and Sun ""n"" Fun. He was a member of the Downtown Lakeland Rotary Club, Lakeland Yacht and Country Club, Lone Palm Golf Club, The Florida Petroleum Marketers Association, Florida Cattleman""s Association, Cracker Cattle and Horse Association, and Alabama Petroleum Marketers Association. He was humbled to receive the Jere Annis Award (1995) and the George Jenkins Award (2006). Flowers will be appreciated by the family or you may make memorial donations to the Florida Baptist Children""s Home, Lakeland Christian School, First Baptist Church at the Mall, or Cornerstone Hospice. The family will receive friends Friday, July 1, 2016 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with funeral services at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church at the Mall Chapel, 1010 East Memorial Blvd, Lakeland, FL 33801.
