Richard Warner Sorensen

Richard Warner Sorensen, age 86, passed away peacefully at his home, on March 30, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Richard was born on January 5, 1937, in Neenah, WI, son of Warner and Doris (Drexler) Sorensen.

He graduated from Neenah High School in 1957. He held several odd jobs before accepting a position as a machinist at Kimberly Clark. Richard retired after 40 years. Richard had a passion for deer hunting and fishing as well as camping. He enjoyed being a snowbird and eventually make Florida his permanent home in 2008. He recently moved back to Wisconsin to be close to family.

Richard is survived by his partner of many years: Robbie Yachabaca; children: Sue (Bill) Van Den Erg, Todd (Julie) Sorensen, and Debbie Sorensen; grandchildren: Paul (Maggie) Sorensen, Michael Sorensen, Tommy Canadeo, Erin Canadeo, and Jason Van Den Eng; and grandson: Matthew Sorensen. He is further survived by his siblings: James (Chris) Sorensen, Nancy (Herald “Buzz”) Hooper, Dan (Janet) Sorensen, and Wendy (Ray) Houghton; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Richard’s family would like to thank Robbie, her children, and the rest of his “Florida Family” for being so welcoming over the last 25 years. They would also like to thank Ben Haney, hospice nurse from ThedaCare at home, for his kindness and support.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 11:00 am at Heath Funeral Chapel, 328 S. Ingraham Ave. Lakeland, FL 33801. The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home.
