Allan Dean Boring III

September 4, 1948 — May 30, 2026

Lakeland

Allan Dean Boring III, age 77, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 30, 2026. Dean was born on September 4, 1948, to Allan and Grace Boring. Dean was very proud to be a fourth generation Lakelander. He was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church. Dean graduated from Lakeland Senior High School (Class of ’66). He spent the next 55 years at Boring Business Systems working his way up the ladder to become owner and president of the 102-year-old technology business.

Dean’s first hobbies included sports cars and motorcycles. He competed in professional motorbike road racing for several years and collected vintage sports cars, including a Ferrari 250 GT/E and Austin Heally 100M. Dean also loved his Tampa Bay Bucs and Florida Gators, becoming both a charter Bucs seat holder in 1976 and a Bull Gator. He also enjoyed many years with family and friends fishing the waters off Anna Maria Island. He was an avid golfer playing at Lone Palm and Grasslands with friends. He later joined Key Royale Golf Club on Anna Maria and had a lot of fun times with the guys he referred to as “a cast of characters”.

Dean’s love for Lakeland led him to be involved in many community programs such as Lakeland Downtown Development Association, The Lakeland Rotary Club, The United Way, Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce, Lakeland Economic Development Council, Leadership Lakeland Class 11, Goodwill Industries, The Lakeland Yacht and Country Club along with various other organizations. He was also involved in many business associations such as Copier Dealers Association, Vistage, Central Florida Business Executives Council, where he made lifelong friends

One of Dean’s proudest accomplishments was being a Lakeland City Commissioner for 10 years. Dean’s popularity and reputation allowed him to run unopposed for both of his terms. He took the responsibility very seriously and always did what he thought was best for Lakeland and its residents.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Harriet Boring; his son, Allan Dean Boring IV; daughters, Margaret (Maggie) Gaa (Garrett) and Kelley Cutrell (Andrew); brothers, Jon Boring (Christine) and Jeff Boring (Tracy); granddaughter, Rory Gaa; grandsons, Clayton Gaa, Beau Cutrell, and Catch Cutrell; niece, Perianne (Court); great-niece, Scottie; and nephews, Jeffrey (Amanda) and Evan. Dean was also blessed to have an extended family consisting of Chris and Melissa Rumph and daughters Molly and Emma.

The family would like to thank the staff at Grace Manor Memory Care, especially Roz and Deshawn for their loving care of Dean. Also, his nurses at VITAS Hospice, Katie and Christina, who we can’t thank enough for their care and devotion to Dean.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church Lakeland, Vitas Hospice at vitascommunityconnection.org, or Alzheimer’s Association at Alzheimer's Association .
