Allen Burnsed

Allen D. Burnsed passed away peacefully on December 1, 2022, in Lakeland, FL, surrounded by family.

Allen was born September 30,1933, to the late A.D. and Ethel Burnsed in Moniac, GA.

His family moved to Fort Meade in 1945, where he graduated from Fort Meade High School in 1951. He enlisted in the US Army after graduation and served 2 years. After his service, he attended the University of Florida and then embarked on a career in finance.

Allen moved to Lakeland and married Beverly Baldwin in 1963. Allen’s only child, Laurie, was born in 1966. In the early 70’s, Allen transitioned to a commercial real estate career with Anchor Investment, where he remained until he retired in 1991.

In retirement, he worked part-time at Cleveland Heights Golf Course. When he wasn’t playing golf or raising a glass at “The Heights”, you could always find him fishing the flats of his beloved Anna Maria Island.

Allen was preceded in death by his brothers Franklin and Danny Burnsed and his niece Kathy Sue Burnsed. He is survived by his daughter Laurie Burnsed Carbonara (Joe) of Jacksonville, FL, brother Hugh Burnsed (Sharon) of Fort Meade, FL, brother Timmy Burnsed (Debbie), of Gastonia, NC, grandson Joseph Carbonara IV and granddaughter Caroline Carbonara. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews, including David Burnsed (Kim) of Lakeland, FL, who Allen considered to be the son he never had. Additionally, he is survived by his long-time companion Kay Sharp and her family Michele Sharp, Cyndi Gundy, and Ashlyn Maslyn.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1pm, Wednesday, December 14th at Heath Funeral Chapel in Lakeland, FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either Highland Park Church, 4777 Lakeland Highlands Rd, Lakeland, FL 33813, Attn: Compassionate Care or Chapters Health Foundation Good Shepherd Hospice, 3010 W Azeele St, Suite 120, Tampa, FL 33609.
