Andy passed away on December 17, 2023. In his final few weeks, he was surrounded by those who loved him until his last breath.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents Ollie and Lenton, sister Geraldine, brothers Franklin and Wilton.
He is survived by his loving wife Thelma; brothers Bobby and Lawton, sister Betty; his ex-wife and mother of his children, Louise; sister-in-law Arleen; his children Jason, Michael, Carol and Mary; his step-children Terry, Joey and Cindy; his grandchildren Nina, Chris, Andrew, Robert Nicholas and Anna; his step-grandchildren Timothy, Christopher, Nicholas, George, Natalie, Zoey, Kobe, Kathleen and Michael; his great-grandchildren Liam, India, Dylan, Luca and Quenton; and his step-great-grandchildren Aiden and Liam.
Andy was an amazing person who lived a long and colorful life. He was a friend to many, an inspiring father, loving grandfather, brother, and husband.
Andy left home at a very early age and worked tirelessly, driven by a desire to improve himself and to become successful. He was a self-taught man who learned from the various jobs he had and the many people who helped, mentored, and inspired him along the way. His jobs ranged from painting refrigerators to flipping Krystal burgers, working on airplanes at Eastern Airlines, then learning to butcher meats and as salesman for Swift & Co. His dedication and hard work lead him to own Andy’s Wholesale Meats, The Sawmill Restaurants and Catering for You.
This was the work ethic that we learned from him; never stop working, learning, and improving yourself.
Andy played as hard as he worked. He was an avid golfer, pilot, and gardener. We never lived anywhere where there wasn’t a vegetable garden. He loved to entertain and to cook for others. We learned by his example and continue to carry on his passions.
Your condolences, stories and messages are warmly appreciated.
