Berta I. Marsella, Ph.D., 93 Educator Lakeland: Berta I. Marsella, 93, of Lakeland died on July 12, 2011 from natural causes. She was born on May 15, 1918 in Havana, Cuba. She became a teacher at an early age and her teaching career spanned 35 years in Cuba. She moved to Lakeland in 1979 with her husband, to be with their son and their son""s family. She loved her family, her church and taking care of her plants. She was preceded in death by her husband Reinaldo; survived by her son Rey and his wife Becky; granddaughter Rachel Couture; nephew Raul Garcia and niece Delia Garcia DelToro. A funeral mass will be held at a later date.
