Carrie Elizabeth Gard, 42, of Lakeland, passed away on April 22nd, 2023, surrounded by her family. Carrie was born on September 20th, 1980, to David and Carol Digby in Atlanta, Georgia. After Carrie graduated from Shiloh High School in 1998, she went on to study Criminal Justice at Georgia Southern College. Carrie moved to Lakeland, FL to start her family and enjoyed the role of a homemaker and Mother. Carrie enjoyed skiing, boating, playing tennis, cooking, and spending time in Georgia to visit family. She loved animals, quilting, scary movies, The Golden Girls, Thanksgiving meals, and the Georgia Bulldogs.
Carrie leaves behind two wonderful children, Bryant Gard (14) and Bree Gard (10), who became her strength during life’s challenges. They choose to live a life filled with love and kindness to remind them of their mom’s place in their hearts. Carrie also leaves behind her parents, David, and Carol Digby; brother David Jr. (Laurie), and nieces, Elisa, and Emily, who Carrie always spoke with such pride about. Aunts, Patricia, Libby, Rene’, and Uncle Donald.
Her family feels a surrounding peace knowing that Carrie is healed, pain free, and watching over her loved ones.
Carrie is predeceased by her grandparents, Joe and Carolyn Digby, and Rex and Ellie Matthews as well as her Aunt Darlene.
Services for Carrie will be held at The First United Methodist Church, 72 Lake Morton Drive, Lakeland, FL, on May 1st, 2023, at 4:00 PM.
