Christine Davis Schraw

Christine (“Christy”) Davis Schraw was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on September 5, 1972, and moved to Lakeland, Florida, in 1979, where she spent most of her life surrounded by family and friends. She passed away peacefully at age 53 due to complications following a liver transplant.

Christy is survived by her devoted husband, Todd Schraw, her beloved children Maggie and Jack, and her precious grand-daughter Luna. She is also survived by her father Ben Davis, siblings Robbie Davis (Joy) and Cindy Kohl (Tony), and her loving extended family of nieces and nephews, all of whom adored her deeply.

Christy attended the University of Florida, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in History before pursuing her calling in education. During her years at the University of Florida, Christy was a proud member of Sigma Kappa sorority, where she formed lifelong friendships that continued to bless her throughout her life. She went on to complete her master’s degree in special education from Asbury University and dedicated over 30 years of her life to teaching. Her greatest professional joy came from working with children with special needs, whose lives she touched with patience, kindness, and an open heart.

Christy lived her life anchored in an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. For the past 17 years, she was a faithful member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, where she found community, purpose, and joy. She especially cherished her Women’s Bible studies and the friendships they fostered.

She found peace and happiness in life’s simple blessings—vacations in the mountains, watercolor painting, trips to Disney, and time spent with her family, who were the center of her world. Praise music filled her soul, and she found deep comfort in listening to The Joy FM, whose uplifting message of faith and hope accompanied her through every season of life.

Christy faced extraordinary medical challenges with grace and courage, living 25 years beyond her original diagnosis of Budd–Chiari syndrome—a true testament to her faith, strength, and the power of prayer.

A celebration of Christy’s life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, Florida, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the service at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow.
