In Loving Memory of David Brewer
March 1, 1943 – October 25, 2025
David Brewer, 82, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025. Born in Oldham, England, David lived with the true heart of an Englishman—steadfast, spirited, and full of warmth.
He began his culinary journey in England under a master chef. In 1964, he moved to Canada to work as a chef for Ford Motor Company, later settling in Florida where he led kitchens at Lone Palm Golf and Country Club and Grasslands Golf and Country Club. As a certified Executive Chef, David was known for his excellence, leadership, and love of sharing good food, which earned him multiple awards and the prestigious Chef of the Year honor.
But David’s soul belonged to the water. Fishing was his passion, and spending time on his boat is where he found peace, laughter, and connection with his sons and fellow anglers. Whether casting a line or swapping stories, those moments on the water were where David felt most alive.
He was also an avid sports fan, playing soccer into his 60s, golfing with buddies, and cheering on his favorite teams whenever the opportunity arose. He was a regular at the Elks Lodge, known for his corny jokes, kind heart, and steady presence.
David was a devoted husband to Mary Brewer for 37 years, a proud father to Carl, Mark, Dale, Karen, and Kelly, and a loving grandfather who cherished every moment of family time, especially poolside gatherings filled with joy and storytelling. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Colin and Karen Brewer, who shared in his journey and memories across the years.
A man of quiet faith, David converted to Catholicism and held values of compassion, humility, and service that guided the way he lived and loved.
David’s legacy is one of kindness, consistency, and connection. He will be deeply missed and
forever remembered.
