David Douglass Morris

On Monday June 19th, 2023, David Douglass Morris passed away peacefully at age 68 with his family at his side.

David was born May 12, 1955, in Gottingen, Germany. He was the son of William and Erika Morris and had a younger brother, Christopher Morris.

David spent his childhood years traveling the world from Germany to Okinawa, Japan, to Canada, to the United States, growing up on Air Force Bases before his family settled in Haines City, Florida in the late 1960's.

Polk County is where David would lay his own roots and spend the majority of his life. He was a father and husband first. He loved spending time with his family. He would teach life-long lessons with ease in general everyday conversation. He enjoyed both playing and attending all types of sporting events. He was proud to play on his high school football team, the Haines City Hornets, and earned the opportunity to play at the college level at Clemson University.

David graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Leo University and earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Troy University.

David helped protect and serve many lives working for the Polk County Sherriff's Office as well as the Auburndale Police Department. He was a school resource officer and helped with the youth Police Athletic league. He saved children's lives working for the Department of Children and Families, retired from working at New Image Marketing.

David was loved and survived by his wife, Cynthia, sons Eric and Mark, daughter Rachael, and grandchildren Laila, Deric, and Olivia.

The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 27th, 2023, at 6:00 PM, at Heath Funeral Chapel, 328 S Ingraham Ave, Lakeland, FL 33801.
