David Scott Neal, Sr.

David Scott Neal, Sr., 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center.

David the son of the late Frank Wright Neal, Jr. and Katherine Scott Neal, was born on February 6, 1943, in Augusta, Georgia.

After graduating high school from the Academy of Richmond Academy in 1961, David attended Augusta College and graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He served in the U. S. Army Reserve at Ft. Jackson, SC from 1964 to 1968. After moving to Florida in the 70’s. David started working in the phosphate industry as an accountant with Farmland Industries. In 1987, he changed his career path, moving into sales until his retirement.

David loved spending time with his family and friends, and especially enjoyed his Friday Night Dinner Group. He was an avid golfer, loved the Georgia Bulldogs, and was a big fan of NASCAR and drag racing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Neal III and Fred Neal, grandson, Charles Palmer.

David is survived by his wife of 38 years Jean Neal; children, Elizabeth Neal McGee, Melanie Neal Bailey (Doug), David Neal, Jr., (Ashlie); stepsons, Chris Palmer (Missy), Jeff Palmer (Brittany), brother, Scott Neal (Beverly); 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
