Dennis Walter Doty

Dennis W. Doty of Lakeland passed away Monday, June 17, 2024, at his daughter’s home after experiencing failing health for several months. Dennis was born in Chicago on September 19, 1939, to Wilmer & Freida Doty.

After high school graduation in 1957, Dennis obtained a teaching degree and taught in several locations. He was also extremely proficient in computer science and everyone depended on him for help in that area. Dennis loved his dogs and was always up to the challenge of rescuing and nurturing a dog in need, which he did repeatedly. He surely missed his calling; should have become veterinarian.

Dennis was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Gail, whom he lovingly cared for in the final months of her illness; his parents, and his beloved granddaughter Lauren and grandson Nicholas. He leaves behind daughter Kimberly (Joe) Detrio, son David (Sherry) Doty, sisters Jennifer, Terri, Pat, Kathy, Nancy, Nicki, brother Jim, sister-in-law Barbara (Bill) Mansfield, nieces and nephews, and many good friends.

Funeral arrangements are being held at the Heath Funeral Chapel, 328 Ingraham Ave., Lakeland 33801, where service will be Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 11 am.
