Douglas Herman Naasz

Lakeland

Doug was born in Caldwell, Idaho in 1947 and passed away peacefully with his loving wife, Patti, at his side. Together for 42 years, Doug and Patti shared a life full of love, laughter, and devotion.

Doug met the love of his life in 1983 at a company function in Palm Springs. Their bond quickly grew, and they were married in 1987 at the beautiful Wayfarers Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

During their years in California, Doug cherished time spent at their weekend home along the Colorado River in Blythe, where he loved entertaining friends and family. In 1990, Doug and Patti moved to the Dallas, Texas area. Later, in 2006, they settled into their remodeled lake house on Cedar Creek Lake—a labor of love that Doug largely completed himself. In November 2022, they sold their lake home and relocated to Lakeland, Florida.

Doug was a graduate of Boise State and enjoyed a successful career in the electronic distribution industry for over 30 years before retiring in 2002. In retirement, he found joy in helping others renovate their homes, always ready to lend a hand and share his skills.

Doug had a passion for bowling and golf, where he built many lasting friendships over the years. He was a devoted member of Resurrection Church and gave generously of his time, volunteering every Saturday at St. Anthony’s food pantry.

He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved dogs, Kona and Teddy.

Doug was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Grove.

Doug is survived by his wife, Patti; his brother-in-law Carl (Denise) Pettengill of Syracuse, New York; his sister-in-law Deborah (Mike) Field of Syracuse, New York; nieces Arlene (Jacob) Russo, Lindy Stafford, and Missy Burns; nephews Milo (Laura) Grove, Bradley (Eleni) Pettengill, and Bryan (Rebecca) Pettengill; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

A private interment will take place in May at Assumption Cemetery, where Doug will be laid to rest in the family mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Doug will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, craftsmanship, and the deep love he had for his family and friends.
