Elizabeth Roth, 94, of Lakeland, died on September 15, 2024. She was born on August 9, 1930, in Cologne, Germany, where she was raised as the second youngest of seven siblings.
At age 21, Elizabeth met her future husband, James C. Roth, in Frankfurt, Germany, where he was stationed as a corporal in the US Army. She emigrated to the United States two years later, and they married in 1953, settling in New York City, where they raised their three sons together. In the 1990s, they moved to Clearwater, Florida, and split their time there with a home in Oneonta, New York, in the Catskill Mountains.
Ellie, as she was known to her friends and family alike, was a strong woman with a deep well of love and support for all those around her. She knew how to share joy, spread comfort, and inspire success. Her work ethic was legendary, having a series of full and part time jobs while raising three boys. She lived life boldly, never afraid to try something new or challenging, and always persevered with a great sense of humor. Ellie loved family, beaches, mountains, driving, cruises, and travel in general. She and Jim visited all 50 states, as well as Europe and Asia multiple times.
Ellie was predeceased by her husband Jim in 2009. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, James and Tansy Roth, William and Summer Roth, and Robert and Patricia Roth; her eight grandchildren, Bryan and wife Jackie, Kevin and wife Emily, Anthony, Amanda, Melissa, Savannah, Harper, and Riley; and four great-grandchildren, Charley, Ellie, Asher, and Oliver.
A gathering and viewing will be held from 5-7 pm on Friday, September 20th, at Heath Funeral Chapel.
