Frederick C Knight passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Fred’s survived by his loving wife, Gale, and his beloved daughters: Courtney (Bryan), McKenzie, and Olivia. He was also a cherished grandfather to his granddaughter, Arbor. Fred leaves behind siblings David (Mary) Knight, Roger Knight, Diana Zeller, Debbie Collins, and Bobby (Kathy) Knight, along with many beautiful nieces and nephews that his legacy of love lives on through. He is predeceased by his parents, Fred and Reva Knight, and his baby brother Gordon.
Throughout his career, Fred was a passionate educator at the Van Buren Technology Center in Lawrence, MI, where he made a lasting impact on many students through his dedication to technical education. Fred’s entrepreneurial spirit also led him to co-own the Hartford Speedway, where his love for racing flourished.
Fred was a Harley-Davidson enthusiast through and through. He was known for pushing the limits and embracing the thrill of speed whether it was on his boat, snowmobile or golfcart with his family.
Above all, Fred’s greatest joy was his family. He never missed an opportunity to support his daughters, whether it was cheering them on at their sporting events or running to make home repairs. He was always on the sidelines, proud of their achievements and ready to encourage them in everything they did.
As a member of The Way Community Church in Lakeland, FL, and a former member of His Place church in Michigan, Fred lived with passion and purpose, bringing many people closer to Christ with his ability to connect with everyone he met.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Fred Knight Scholarship Fund to support students at the Van Buren Technology Center, honoring Fred’s lifelong commitment to education and mentorship.
Fred's life will be celebrated graveside on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 10:30 at Oak Hill Burial Park in Lakeland, FL and a memorial service will be held in Michigan at His Place Cathedral of Faith Saturday, October 26, 2024, 10:30-1:30.
