Gary Lee Kimball, 77, of Lakeland, Florida, entered his heavenly home on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. Born in Quasqueton, Iowa, to Bernice and Charles Kimball, Gary lived a life marked by faith, an exceptional work ethic, and a wonderfully dry wit that endeared him to all who knew him.
Highly intelligent and industrious, Gary spent his career as a devoted mathematics professor, teaching for nearly fifty years, including the last thirty at Southeastern University. He taught at several other institutions as well, and he particularly enjoyed his early years at Lakeland Christian School. He was a longtime elder (and occasionally served as an interim music director) at Covenant Presbyterian Church, where his steady kindness and thoughtful spirit blessed his church family.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Doreen; daughters Kristina Bone (Braxton) and Kathryn Mizelle (Chad); and his cherished grandchildren—John Everett Mizelle, Barrett Bone, and Mary Avila Mizelle. He is also survived by his siblings Norman Kimball (Linda), Robert Kimball (Lynda), and Mary Lusthoff, along with many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. His parents preceded him in death.
A service celebrating Gary’s life will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 11:00 am, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, followed by a graveside service at Oak Hill Burial Park.
The service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend: https://youtube.com/live/xctPIRNPi7M?feature=share
