George Semieon Stough Jr., a beloved resident of Manchester, Georgia, and later Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024, at 89 years of age. He is remembered for his unwavering dedication, service, and love that he selflessly extended to his communities.

George was born in Linden, Alabama, and received his high school diploma from Bay Minette High School. In 1955, he earned his associate degree at Hines Community College. George played football for Hines Community College and was inducted in 2001 into the Football Hall of Fame. He later obtained a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Mississippi State University. His passion for the outdoors and commitment to environmental stewardship shaped his career.

George was a retired forester with WestRock Company, where he left an indelible mark on the industry. His expertise and profound love for nature inspired those around him and impacted the environment he so dearly cared for all his life.

George's impact extended beyond his professional life. For over 50 plus years, he was an active Manchester and Mulberry Kiwanis Club member, contributing to community betterment. As a Boy Scout leader, he mentored countless young minds, teaching them resilience, leadership, and the joy of exploration.

George's faith was unwavering. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Manchester, Georgia, for 19 years and a member of College Heights First United Methodist Church in Lakeland, Florida, for 36 years. In 2023, College Heights First United Methodist Church awarded George the highest-ranking honor as a Trustee Emeritus. His strong faith was a source of comfort and strength, guiding him through life's challenges. He was married to his wife, Peggy Linton Stough for 64 years, thus leaving a void that only love, and cherished memories can fill.

George is survived by his children, Kelli Stough O'Rourke (Brian), Kay Stough Williamson (David), and Georgi Stough Nour (George). His grandchildren—Ryan Williamson, Brett Williamson, Austin Brown, Allen Brown, and Kameron O'Rourke—carry forward his legacy.
