Mrs. Hazel Jean “Jeannie” Wright-Max, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and pioneering businesswoman, passed away peacefully on June19, 2025, at home in Lakeland, Florida. She was 78 years old.
Born on May 5, 1947, in Fulton, New York, Jean was the daughter of Harry M. Isbell and Jennie L. Isbell. She grew up in a close-knit family alongside her brothers Harry C. Isbell, Lawrence Isbell, and John Stevenson. Her early life in upstate New York laid the foundation for the compassionate and determined spirit that would define her life’s work.
Jean began training for the nursing profession at Crouse Irving Hospital in Syracuse NY. She had the capacity to be deeply compassionate and confrontative, according to the critical needs of the situation. Jean pursued her education with purpose and earned her Registered Nursing degree from Polk State College. Her passion for caregiving and leadership led her to establish Action Home Care, which she owned and operated for an impressive 45 years. Through this endeavor, she provided essential services to countless individuals and families in need of home health care. Her dedication to excellence and compassion made her a respected figure in the healthcare community.
A woman of deep Christian faith and unwavering commitment to service, Jean extended her leadership beyond her business. She chaired the board of Pace Center for Girls, demonstrating her belief in empowering young women through education and support. Her involvement reflected not only her professional acumen but also her heartfelt desire to uplift others. She was a member of Leadership Lakeland X, Leadership Polk 2 and Kawanis.
Jean’s personal life was rich with love and family. She shared a long and devoted marriage with her husband Robert Max. Survived by three children: Rebecca Joyce, Marcus Wright, and Matthew Wright and stepchildren Michael Max and Nicole (Max) Stovall. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren Connor Wright and Brianne Joyce and step grandchildren Megan Stovall, Chance Stovall, Cayden Stovall, Weston Max, Katie Max & Mondi Max.
In addition to her immediate family, Jean is remembered by her brothers Lawrence Isbell and John Stevenson. She was predeceased by her parents Harry M. Isbell and Jennie L. Isbell, as well as her brother Harry C. Isbell.
Outside of work and service, Jean found joy on the golf course with Bob—a pastime that brought relaxation, some frustration and most importantly friendships.
A funeral service honoring Mrs. Hazel Jean “Jeanie” Wright- Max will be held on June 27, 2025, 3PM, at The Club at Eaglebrooke, 1300 Eaglebrooke Dr. Lakeland 33813
Her memory will live on through the lives she touched with every gesture of kindness, and all the love she shared with those who knew her.
