Helen Mackay Brashears

Helen Mackay Brashears, age 61, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, August 15, 2022. She died peacefully at home with her loving husband, Rob, after a battle with ALS. Helen was born on April 11, 1961, in Alexandria, Scotland to parents William (Bill) and Elizabeth (Beth) MacKay. She grew up in Scotland, along with her two brothers, and was lovingly raised in the Christian faith. In 1986 she married Rob Brashears and moved to the United States, along with her six-year-old daughter, Sarah. She and Rob went on to have two sons, Andrew, and Isaiah, and moved to several different areas of the United States during Rob’s military career. They settled in Lakeland 30 years ago. Helen served the Lord throughout her life and always found a way to bond and connect with people. She had a loving and giving heart, an inquisitive mind, and a zest for life. She is survived by her mother, Beth, her brothers Waldon (wife Janice) and Bryan (wife Reiko) MacKay, her husband, Rob, and their three wonderful children: Sarah (husband Alex), Andrew (wife Shenley) and Isaiah. Helen has four precious grandchildren: Micah and Anderson Aycrigg, and Zoey and Riley Brashears. She will be reunited in heaven with her father, Bill. Viewing will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 3pm at Heath Funeral Chapel, 328 S. Ingraham Avenue, Lakeland, FL 33801 followed by a service at 4 pm. .
