Hollis Talmadge Jackson of Lakeland, FL went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, December 9,2025 at Good Shepherd Hospice House. Hollis was born August 16, 1937 to Leonard and Beatrice Jackson, in Kinston, Alabama.
In 1943 he and his family moved to Largo, FL where he grew up and graduated from Largo High School in 1956. After his graduation, he joined the United States Air Force to “see the world” and serve his country. He was stationed in Panama City Beach, FL at Tyndale Air Force base, where he spent most of the four years he was in the service. While in the Air Force he graduated from Electronics School and began a lifetime career working in advanced electronics and telecommunications. After the Air Force he began working for Vitro Corporation, a defense contractor, working on the development of advanced radar and missile tracking technology. In 1969 Hollis began his career at General Telephone, eventually relocating to Lakeland, FL in 1971 and working for GTE until his retirement in 1992.
In 1962, Hollis married the girl next door - his best friend and the love of his life, Peggy Sue Lassiter. They built a wonderful life together and were married for 63 ½ years. He was a loving and faithful husband to Peggy, the best father and Papa that anyone could ask for to his children and grandchildren, and a loyal and reliable brother, uncle, and friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Beatrice Jackson, his sister and brother in law, Margaret and Robert Simmons, and his sister Louise McCarty. He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy, son and daughter in law, Mike and Sheri Jackson, son, Jeff Jackson, and daughter and son in law, Pam and Brent Seely. He also leaves behind the joy of his life, his four grandchildren and their spouses: Jake and Melissa Seely, Michael and Alexa Jackson, Morgan and Rapheal Bournigal, and Jackson and Hailee Seely, and his six great grandchildren: Cheyenne and Walker Jackson, Blakely and Raffi Bournigal, and Chase and Carson Seely.
Hollis was a born again believer and a long time member and Deacon at Lakeside Baptist Church, and most recently a member of The Rock Community Church. Although he is already missed here on earth immeasurably and our hearts are aching, we also rejoice that he is in Heaven with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We know we will be reunited with him one day, just as he has been reunited with those that have gone before him.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on January 10, 2026 at 11:30AM at The Rock Community Church, 270 E Highland Drive, Lakeland, FL 33813. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Hollis to The Rock Community Church or Good Shepherd Hospice, 3470 Lakeland Hills Blvd, Lakeland, FL 3380
