Jackie Lee “Jack” Yard passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, September 15, 2022.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Chancy and Helen Yard, and brother, Gary Yard (Sandy).
He is survived by his wife, Carol, children Terrence “Terry” Yard (Diane) and Anthony “Tony” Yard (Andrea), and grandchildren Sydney, Faith, and Chancy.
Jack was born on July 25, 1935 in Morrisonville, Illinois. He served in the US Army Reserves and was a Master Barber and proprietor of the Esquire Barber Shop from 1963 to 1996. He valued his many friendships made throughout his professional career and is best known for his strong views, sense of humor and showing off his biceps. Men often gathered for hours at the barber shop playing poker, throwing quarters or participating in a straw tally during an election year, which often proved to be an accurate outcome. Jack resided in Lakeland, Florida for 41 years before retiring to Franklin, North Carolina Mountains with his wife Carol where they lived for 23 before returning to Lakeland in 2018. Jack was a devoted husband, father and friend to many and will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will held at a later date in Broadwell IL.
