Janice Diane Ward

A beloved wife, mother, and Grammy was reunited with her Savior on April 19, 2022. Jan Diane Ward was born November 20, 1947, in Lakeland, Florida to Olen and Marie Downs. She was a lifelong Polk County resident, graduating from LHS in 1965. Her next life adventure began in Bartow, at the A&W Root Beer Stand where she met her husband of 54 years, Leon Ward. A marriage that had great joy, many blessings, and also endured the hardship of prolonged illness was a testimony to all who observed it. A devoted homemaker, Jan’s family reaped the benefits of great Southern cooking, childcare guidance, and organizational skills. She was a true domestic engineer! Her love of gardening was appreciated by many as she even found joy in mowing! She experienced memorable adventures on family vacations with the beach being her favorite destinations. Jan was mother to Angie Jones (Eric), Grammy to her treasured grandchildren, Haley and Ethan, and her faithful pup, Sophia. She was integral part of her family member’s lives, always encouraging them and proud of their accomplishments. The cornerstone of Jan’s life was her abiding faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ. Attending the Family Worship Center for over 30 years brought a blessing of community. She will spend eternity with Jesus-the Object, author, and perfector of that faith, who was her ultimate help and Hope. Visitation, Friday, April 22, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.; Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. at Heath Funeral Chapel, Lakeland, Florida.
