Janie Louise Shiver

Janie Louise Rager Adams Shiver, 80, of Lakeland, FL passed peacefully on October 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on February 2, 1945, to Charles Francis Rager and Florence Louise Boyer Rager, Janie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose kindness and laughter brightened the lives of all who knew her.

Janie dedicated her professional life to the Polk County School Board, where she served faithfully as a data specialist until her retirement. Her commitment to excellence, attention to detail, and care for others left a lasting mark on her colleagues and community.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Mack Kenneth Shiver; brother Chuck Rager (Paula), her children Jamey Adams (Christy), Jason Adams (Sherrie), Melissa Mumbauer (Billy), and Debbie Walker (Jerry); and her cherished grandchildren Taylor Waite (Conner), Shelbie Luckey (Elijah), Hunter Adams (Alexis), Jordan Adams, Carly Adams, Abbey Nething (Garrett), Mallory Thompson (Travis), Lacey Green (Sean), Barrett Walker (Caitlin), Joshua Walker, and Sydney Armstrong (Jacob). She was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Janie was preceded in death by her first husband, James “Bud” Adams; her brother, Rick Rager; and her parents, Charles and Louise Rager.

Janie will be remembered for her deep love for her family. Her legacy of compassion, warmth, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.
