Jennifer Lynn Potts, 48, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2024.
Born July 24, 1976, in Perry, Georgia, but moved to Lakeland and has remained a resident since 1980. She was a graduate of Kathleen Highschool, class of 1994; and Florida Southern College, class of 1998, as a member of the FSC Softball team, where she earned NCAA Division II All-American Honors as a Catcher. She then went on to achieve Teacher of the Year as a Physical Education Coach at ESE Countywide Special Education Public School.
Jennifer was highly active throughout her entire life. Her generosity & acts of kindness knew no bounds. She was the owner of a landscaping business who made it a habit to make her clients her friends. Jennifer was passionate about experiencing God’s creation through activities and community. Committing much of her time to softball, surfing, fishing, playing pickleball and spending time with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lynda Kay Arnett; a grandmother, Geneva Potts; and grandfather, R. Haydn Arnett.
She is survived by her son, Jalen Shim-Potts; her daughter, Aydn Shim-Potts; her father, Tommy Potts of Lizella; her sisters, Heather Russo and Melissa Green; her nieces, Brianah Evans and Regan Green; her nephew, Chase Grandone; the father of Jalen and Aydn, Lance Shim; and Godmother of her children and good friend, Jill Stephens; along with members of both the Potts and Arnett families.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, November 25, from 10-11am, at Heath Funeral Chapel 328 S. Ingraham Avenue, Lakeland, FL 33801. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, immediately following the service.
