Jon Thomas Leach, Jr.

October 4, 1962 — May 11, 2026

Lakeland

Jon T. Leach Jr., born October 4, 1962, has officially embarked on his next great adventure. One we’re fairly certain he’d describe as “I’ve givin’ it all she’s got, Captain!”

Jon was a proud United States Air Force veteran, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, gamer, and lifelong fan of Star Trek. He approached life with equal parts kindness, stubborn determination, cantankerous opinions, and humor. A combination anyone who knew him understood well. If Jon believed he was right, there was a very good chance the discussion was already over… even if the rest of the room hadn’t realized it yet.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Leach; his daughter, Stacie Reeder (Michael); and his three grandsons, Thomas, Jeremiah, and Jacob, who brought him endless pride and joy. He is also survived by his mother Jeanette Hillier and his father Jon Leach Sr. (Doris). As well as the many souls that were welcomed into his orbit that he loved as his own. Nothing mattered more to Jon than his family, even if he occasionally expressed his love through playful sarcasm, long stories, or passionately explaining why his opinion on a subject was clearly the correct one.

Jon loved Star Trek, gaming, classic rock, and the simple joy of spending time with the people he loved. Whether jamming out with the radio blaring the sound of his favorite songs, exploring strange new worlds on screen, or simply enjoying time with family, he had a way of creating memories that will live on long after him. Above all, Jon carried a strong faith in Jesus throughout his life, and his family finds peace in knowing he is now at rest in the presence of his Savior. The legacy he leaves behind and the lives he touched through ministry will be equally eternal. Those who knew Jon will remember his loving heart, unwavering loyalty, sharp sense of humor, and yes, his legendary stubborn streak. Life with Jon was never boring, and honestly, he probably would have preferred it that way. Though his family’s hearts are heavy, they take comfort in knowing his story, laughter, love, and faith will remain with them always.

As you remember Jon and his legacy, always remember that he would ask that you “boldly go where no man has gone before” and to live every day like it’s your last. He always did.

Live long and prosper.
