Judith Annelle Arbaugh Doyle, 70 Guidance Counselor Lakeland - Judith Annelle Arbaugh Doyle, 70, passed away at her home on December 23, 2014. She went peacefully, surrounded by family and friends. Judy had endured years of struggle with breast cancer. Judy was born in Lancaster, PA. Her parents, the Reverend Ralph Arbaugh and Emma Sutphin Arbaugh, devoted their lives to ministry bringing them to Virginia, Tennessee, Florida and even Haiti. Judy attended Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL then completed her BA at Virginia Commonwealth University in 1966. She took opportunities to study abroad in London and San Juan inspiring her long held interest in world travel. Judy first arrived in Lakeland in 1967 when her father was Pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Lakeland. She began working for the Polk County Schools and met her husband Dennis Doyle. Judy and Dennis welcomed their son Brian in 1973. Judy was a working mother who pursued her career ambitions and continued her studies earning an MA from the University of South Florida in 1976, an Education Specialist degree from Rollins College in 1986 and an MA in Counseling from the University of South Florida in 1996. Among her outstanding career accomplishments she served as President of the Council for Exceptional Children. Judy retired from the Polk County School System in 2004 after 38 years of service. She was a proud member of the Long-Timers Club, a group of exceptional women like herself who served their communities through their long careers with the school system. Since 2010, she relished her role as a proud grandmother of her only grandchild Maysie. One of the many blessings in Judy's life was the profound and committed relationship of her close friends, who were as dear to her as family. Preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Emma Arbaugh; her former husband Dennis Doyle; her cousins Delores Davis and H. Madison Hughes; aunts Loudie Byler, Edith Hughes, Snowie Nester, Essie Vaughan and Mable Zimmerman; uncles Benton Arbaugh, Charles Arbaugh and Marvin Arbaugh. Judy is survived by her son Brian C. Doyle, his wife Susan M. Doyle and daughter Maysie E. Doyle all of Beacon, NY. She is also survived by her cousins Chuck Arbaugh, Melvin Arbaugh, Peggy Arbaugh, Sherry Beasley, Stephanie Bowman, Deborah Hughes-Bullock, Michael Hughes, Richard Hughes, Terry Miller, and Linda Sue Vaughan. She maintained a close and caring relationship with Dennis"" siblings and extended family. Memorial services will be held at 2pm on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church, 175 Lake Hollingsworth Dr., Lakeland, FL. Visitation and Reception will be held in the church Welcome Center beginning at 1pm.
