Judith Ann Asche, 89, of Lakeland, passed away on April 18, surrounded by her loving family.
Born July 30, 1936, to Herbert and Francis Balante McCool in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, she grew up in Harrisonburg, Virginia, before moving to Daytona Beach as a teenager.
Judy attended the University of Florida, where she met her loving husband of 54 years, George Asche. They moved to Lakeland in 1973 where Judy worked as a medical assistant for Foot and Ankle Associates for nearly four decades.
A faithful member of First Presbyterian Church, Judy taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, performed in the bell choir, and volunteered in the office well into her 80s. In addition, she volunteered with Lighthouse Mission, Habitat for Humanity, and more.
Although she only had two biological children, she was like a mother to many. Judy never knew a stranger. She was quick to give compliments, encouragement and the most precious gift of all—her time.
She had a sense of style, a sense of humor, and a lively spirit. She also had an unwavering faith which gave her strength even in the toughest of times.
Judy is survived by daughter Gina Asche, son Eric Asche and wife Francine Previte Asche; grandsons George Angelo Asche, Harold Antonio Asche and Isaac Francesco Asche; brother Phillip McCool and wife Jean McCool; and niece Yvonne Bennett.
A service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 1, in the chapel at Westminster Communities of Florida Lakeland.
A second memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, May 2, in the chapel at First Presbyterian Church, Lakeland. Reception to follow in the welcome center.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to First Presbyterian’s Fine Arts Department.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff and residents at Westminster, formerly Florida Presbyterian Homes, who were such an important part of her life over the last five years.
