Juliann Stough Holman, 74, passed peacefully on March 19, 2023, in Lakeland, Florida, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Born in Lansing, Michigan, to Richard and Melba Stough, Julie grew up in Muskegon, on the shores of Lake Michigan. She graduated from Mona Shores High School, and later received an undergraduate degree from Michigan State University, home of her beloved Spartans, where she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority. Julie moved to Lakeland in 1974. After earning a master’s degree from Florida State, Julie worked her entire career as an extension agent with the University of Florida Extension Service as a food and nutritional education specialist in Bartow and Seffner. A devoted member of First United Methodist Church, she participated in many ministries and missions, notably the Prayers and Squares quilting ministry. Julie made thousands of quilts and crafts that will last for many years. She and her husband traveled the world, going on dozens of cruises and trips. Julie is survived by her husband of 37 years Doug Holman of Lakeland, sisters Pam Schaner and Claudia Hanson, both of Muskegon, son Judge Richard Martin of Tampa, granddaughters Emily and Natalie Martin of Tampa, stepson Michael Holman and granddaughters Katie and Olivia Holman of Lakeland. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, April 14, 2023, in the chapel at First United Methodist Church of Lakeland. The family will receive guests after the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Clothes Closet at First United Methodist Church.
