Lance Stephen Hamic

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Lance Stephen Hamic, on August 7, 2025, at the age of 29 after a courageous battle with cancer. Lance was born on June 28, 1996, in Tampa, Florida, and grew up in Lakeland.

Lance was a vibrant soul whose warmth and kindness touched everyone he met. Lance attended St Paul Lutheran School, Lawton Chiles Middle Academy and graduated from All Saints Academy in 2014, where he played football, basketball and lacrosse. He went on to earn a degree in Information Technology from Florida State University in 2018, where he also played on the FSU Rugby Club team. He was a diehard Noles fan all his life. He had a passion for all sports but particularly for the Lacrosse team at ASA where he volunteered as an assistant coach. He was known as “Coach Lance”.

Known for his infectious smile and quick wit, Lance had a gift for making others feel seen and valued. His love for adventure was matched only by his loyalty to his friends and family, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand.

Lance is survived by his loving parents, Steve and Jane Hamic, his sister Bailey Hamic, and his wife Rachel. His memory will also be cherished by his extended family and countless friends.

A celebration of Lance’s life will be held on August 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church, 175 Lake Hollingsworth Drive, Lakeland, Florida. Friends and family are invited to share stories and honor the light he brought into the world. A reception at the church will immediately follow the ceremony, friends please join us. Private interment will take place at Lakeland Memorial Gardens. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed at fpclakeland.org.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the All Saints Academy Lacrosse Foundation being established in Lance’s memory, First Presbyterian Church ‘College and Young Adult Ministry’ or the charity of your choice.

Lance, your smile and fun-loving spirit will forever live on in the hearts and minds of every soul you have touched. Until we see you again. We love you always.
