Lorinda Lee Kennedy

Lorinda Lee (Shimp) Kennedy, age 85, of Lakeland, Florida, went to be with Jesus on June 24th, 2025, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Lakeland, Florida. She was born on February 27, 1940, in Miami, Florida, to the late William and Margaret Shimp.

She was known for her immense love. She consistently put others before herself. Those who knew her often said, 'We loved her,' reflecting the warmth and kindness she shared with everyone.

Lorinda especially loved art, particularly pencil art.

She is survived by her husband, John Maxwell Kennedy; son, Robert Maxwell Kennedy; and grandchildren, Robert, Jonathon and Nigel Cheetham.

Lorinda is preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Lee Cheetham.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 301 North Florida Avenue, Lakeland, Florida 33801. Ample parking is available on the east side of the church.

Following the service, a lunch reception will be held.

On Monday, July 21, 2025, a police-escorted caravan will proceed from Heath Funeral Chapel, 328 S. Ingraham Avenue, Lakeland, FL 33801, to Florida National Cemetery, 6502 S.W. 102 Avenue, for the burial service. Family and friends wishing to join the procession should arrive at Heath Funeral Chapel, 328 S. Ingraham Avenue, Lakeland, Florida 33801, between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m.
