Margie R. Brown

Margie Roper Brown of Lakeland, Fl passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on Friday January 2nd, 2026. She was born and raised in Gadsden, Alabama on December 23, 1929, to the late Melvin and Lura Condray Roper.

An active member of the First United Methodist Church, Margie served on the Altar Guild, Office Guild and Stitches of Love ministry. She was a member of the Sendero Sunday School class and the Thursday Morning Ladies Bible Study. Her faith, family, friends and service to others were the priorities of her life.

Margie was an avid reader, needlepoint artist, gardener, and active bridge player. She was a longtime member of the PEO sisterhood, Chapter CP and the Finer Things Antique Club.

The highlight of Margie’s life was spending time with her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is predeceased by her late husband Samuel Brown and survived by her daughters Melissa Stump (Bill) Lagrange, GA, Susie Penn (John) Lakeland, FL, Holly Lowman (Jack) Palmetto, FL. Her grandchildren Hunter Misner (Dana), Chelsey Manning (Philip), Allison Penn, Marina Stump, Andrew Penn, Katie Lowman, Sam Lowman. Her great grandchildren Marshall Manning and Cecilia Manning.

We want to thank Gloria, Elizabeth, Kimberly and Katherine for taking such wonderful care of our mom.

The celebration of her life will be Saturday, January 17th 2pm at First United Methodist Church 72 Lake Morton Drive
