Mark Shelley Kirby

Mark Shelley Kirby of Lakeland passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Tampa General Hospital.

Mark was born in Lakeland to the late Dorsey and Esther Kirby on August 23, 1950. He attended Hampden DuBose Academy (high school) and Bryan College. After college, Mark was married to Karen Lee Parrott, and they lived in Dayton Tennessee where Mark spent most of his working years as an administrator in workforce development eventually supervising a five-county area for the state of Tennessee. He enjoyed building and remodeling, golf, fishing, and most spectator sports. And he loved his family and his church, Sale Creek Presbyterian. Mark and Karen also enjoyed periodic trips to Ireland, a country and countryside they dearly love.

Mark is survived by Karen, his loving wife of 50 years; daughter, Amanda McCaw of Dayton, Tennessee; daughter, Meghan Streets; sister, Laurel Grigsby; brother, Bruce Kirby; grandsons, Jonas and Elliot Streets; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Lakeland on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., Dr. David B. McWilliams officiating.
