Mary Alice Miller

July 20, 1942 — January 20, 2023

Mary Alice Miller (Davis), 80 of Lakeland, passed away Friday, January 20, 2023, Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center.

She was born July 20, 1942, in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of Thomas E. and Martha L (Herr) Davis. She graduated from Springfield Catholic Central High School in 1961.

From 1964-1980 she focused on being a great mom while raising her three children. The early years saw many trips across the country in a camper with family and friends. In 1980, she started working at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Ohio and retired from there in August 2002. In 2003, she and her husband Richard built a home and moved to Mulberry, Florida to be closer to grandchildren. They lived there until 2017, when they moved to Lake Morton Plaza, Lakeland, Florida.

Mary was an avid sports fan. Growing up she never missed a swim meet or little league baseball game. She carried on that tradition by attending as many softball and little league baseball games as she could to watch her grandchildren. She and Richard loved the Little League World Series and would record every game so as to never miss a pitch. Lastly, there was no greater Ohio State Buckeye fan in the land! If there was an OSU on it, she would cheer for it.

Mary is survived by her husband, Richard P. Miller, Jr., of 58 years, three children, Patti Miller Brooks, Terri Walker (Paul), Chuck Miller (Carla Mathews), 4 grandchildren, Jake, & Danny Walker, Chelsie Brooks Matthews, Audrey Brooks and 4 great grandchildren, one sister, Sandra (Gary) Lockwood. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Robert, and Jim Davis.
