Michael Candler Mullens, Jr

Michael Candler Mullens, Jr., 38, of Lakeland, Florida passed away on April 27, 2023, at home.

Born in Lakeland to Kathy and Mike Mullens on March 18, 1985, Michael was a 2003 graduate of Lakeland High School, where he was an active participant in sports and church activities at First Presbyterian Church. He continued his studies at Polk State College.

Michael’s favorite place to go was the beach with his family and friends. He loved fishing and spent many summers fishing with his family off Longboat Key and Anna Maria Island. Music and playing guitar were also favorite hobbies. His love for reading started at an early age. Michael would sit with books for hours and continued to read voraciously throughout his life. The Bible was his favorite book.

Michael was known for his quick smile and sense of humor. His love for others and tender heart will live on in all our memories. He adored his parents; he and his dad had a special bond. Michael was a devout follower of Jesus Christ. He loved the Lord.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Audrey and Earl Fengler and Marjorie and John Mullens.

He is survived by his parents, Kathy, and Mike Mullens, two brothers, Jeffery (Kelley) and Steven (Cameron), three nieces, and two nephews. Also left behind to cherish Michael’s memory are his aunts and uncles. These include Marti (Robert) Glass, Mary Fengler, Tom Fengler, Jeffery (Angela) Fengler, Larry (Joan) Mullens as well as Michael’s cousins.

The service will be held, Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church 175 Lake Hollingsworth Drive, Lakeland, FL 33803, at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Volunteers in Service to the Elderly (VISTE), 1232 E. Magnolia St. Lakeland, FL 33801.
