Regina Omelia Carter

Feb 11, 1960 — Jul 18, 2026

Regina O. Carter, 66, of Lakeland, FL, passed away on July 18, 2026, after a long battle with Myasthenia Gravis and a declining condition.

Regina was born on February 11, 1960, and was a graduate of Kathleen High School. She often would help her nephew Dustyn Bassford through most of his schooling from elementary to high school. In her free time, she was known to play games on her computer and do crosswords and word searches. She may have lost her mobility over the years, but her mind was ever sharp like the rest of the family. Everyone who knew her recognized her for being punctual and ready for any occasion. Whatever she wanted to do, she would set her mind to it with the same stubborn, obstinate mindset that she inherited from her family that we all know to love. This is not just a farewell but a reunion with all her family members that passed before her. She has waited long to be with them and can finally rest.

She is predeceased by her mother, Gladys Carter; father, Willis Carter; and sister, Tracy Bassford. She is survived by Dr. Allen Carter & NJ Carter; and her nephew, Dustyn Bassford.

We would like to express our deep thanks for the care and compassion from the staff at Lakeland Hospice House for making her as comfortable as she could be in her last moments.

The family will be holding a small graveside service on Thursday, August 13, 2026, 10:00 am, at Oak Hill Burial Park in Lakeland, Florida.
