Royce Dale McDonald joined our Heavenly Father on June 23, 2023.
Royce, a cherished husband, beloved father, devoted friend, and passionate entrepreneur, passed away on June 23, 2023. His extraordinary journey was one of profound impact and unwavering love.
Born on August 23, 1945, at Morrell Hospital in Lakeland, FL, to Carl and Kathryn McDonald, Royce graduated in 1963 from Lakeland High School. He later proudly served our country in the Vietnam War, for which our family was very grateful.
As an entrepreneur, Royce fearlessly pursued his dreams, creating and managing numerous successful businesses. From his ventures in the cable industry to his role as a newscaster and announcer for Lakeland High School, grassing business and citrus, his professional accomplishments reflected his determination, talent, and commitment to excellence. His contributions to the local community were vast, leaving an indelible mark on the industries he touched.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Royce was a man of deep faith and an ardent disciple of Jesus Christ. His devotion to his spiritual beliefs shaped his character and guided his actions. He touched the lives of countless individuals as he generously shared inspirational books, uplifting messages, and his unwavering love for God. Whether it was his family, friends, or even total strangers, Royce had an extraordinary ability to bring light, hope, and encouragement to those he encountered.
In addition to his entrepreneurial spirit and faith, Royce was a devoted family man. His love for his family knew no bounds, and he cherished every moment spent with them. As a husband to his wife Debbie, he was a source of unwavering support, kindness, and love. As a father, he provided guidance, encouragement, and boundless affection. His legacy of love will forever live on in the hearts of those he held dear. For over 20 years, Royce wrote "4-14 Fishing Club" on his Church Bulletin every Sunday. This was his God-given vision to start a fishing camp for underprivileged and at-risk children. The significance of 4-14 is to guide children between the ages of four and 14 towards the Lord, at the ages they are most impressionable. Though Royce's dream did not come to fruition in his lifetime, his wife and family are committed to making it a reality through the formation of his 501c3 organization.
Beyond his professional and personal achievements, Royce was a pillar of strength and inspiration to his community. His entrepreneurial endeavors uplifted the local economy, while his acts of kindness and generosity brought solace and hope to those in need. Whether it was through his various businesses, community involvement, or his willingness to lend a helping hand, Royce made a lasting impact on the lives of those around him.
In honoring the memory of Royce let us remember him as a passionate entrepreneur, a dedicated news caster, a caring member of the community, and above all, a disciple of Jesus who spread love, inspiration, and faith to all who knew him. His legacy will forever inspire us to live our lives with purpose, compassion, and unwavering faith.
Royce is preceded in death by his beloved parents, sisters Darlene and Nancy, as well as the mother of his children, Donna Medeiros.
Royce is survived by his loving wife and soul mate of over 32 years, and his sons, Royce Jr. (Faye) and Chad (Julie); grandchildren Allison and Trevor. He is also survived by his brothers, Carl “Butch” (Marie) and Gary “Champ” (Beverly); nephews, Keith (Cecilia) and Stephen (Jeanette); nieces Carole, Tisha (Chad) and Lauren, as well as a remarkable number of lifelong friends. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
