Suzanne Miller (Sue) Weeks, 88, of Lakeland, Florida, died on May 3, 2026.
She was born in Columbus (Upper Arlington), Ohio, on January 6, 1938, to Helen and DC Miller.
She graduated from Ohio University in 1960 where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. Sue and her college sweetheart, Jim (James Martin Weeks, Jr.) were married for 60 years.
Sue lived life to the fullest, concentrating on family- and sports-related activities. She played on the Lakeland Yacht and Country Club tennis team for many years and also with Jim and their tennis friends. A passion for Sue was anything water related- being “in, on or under water” - swimming, boating and SCUBA diving. She used to say that “happiness is being in a wet swimsuit.” She adored her two little Boston Whalers- Mills I and II- Jim’s nickname for her.
She also loved traveling and had seen much of the world with Jim, with her children, and with her sister, Julie. Sue was an avid reader and always eager to share titles with the Study Club.
Sue and Jim divided their time between Abaco, Bahamas, where they were members of Royal Marsh Harbour Yacht Club, and Abaco Club at Winding Bay, and New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where they were members of Smyrna Yacht Club.
Sue was predeceased by her husband, Jim, her sister, Julie Miller Fenix of North Palm Beach, Florida, and St. Jean Cap Ferrat, France, and her parents. She is survived by son Julian (J. J.) Weeks (Stacey) of Lakeland, daughter Zena Hoskins (Jack), of Tampa, and four grandchildren, Clay, Walker, Miller and Jackson.
A private family service will take place at a later date.
Donations may be made to either All Saints’ Episcopal Church or to Polk Museum of Art.
