Sylvia Anne Kimbro Buckner, 90, passed away at her home on September 14th, 2024, just days before her 91st birthday.
Sylvia was born September 19, 1933, in Gadsden, Alabama. Sylvia grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and was attending Auburn University when she met her husband of 55 years, the late Dr. Charles Buckner, who preceded her in death on December 27th, 2010.
Charles and Sylvia moved to Lakeland in 1963, where Charles practiced medicine at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Sylvia managed Charles’ medical office.
Sylvia was devoted to her husband and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her great-grandchild. Sylvia was a fine example of a Christian and a true southern lady. Her personality, laughter, and smile could light up any room which led to so many wonderful friends throughout the community.
Sylvia was a member of First United Methodist Church, The Antique and Garden Club, and was a local artist. Her love of painting is obvious to anyone who has stepped into her home.
In addition to her husband and parents, Sylvia is predeceased by her brother, Joe Kimbro. Survivors include her four sons, Steven (Katy) Buckner, David (Lynn) Buckner, Chip Buckner, Mark (Sandy) Buckner, grandchildren, Elizabeth (Aaron) Walters, Brock (fiancée Allie) Buckner, Catherine Buckner, and great grandchild, Evelyn Walters.
Special thanks to Luther Morrison for his many years of love and support. The family wishes to express much gratitude for the exceptional end-of-life care provided to Sylvia by Alicia, Brittani and Briana of Alice’s Angels and the fine team at Cornerstone Hospice of Lakeland.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, September 23rd, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Lakeland.
