Wayne Heritage Short

Wayne Heritage Short 89, of Lakeland, passed away October 28, 2022. He is survived by his wife, of 67 years, Marjorie Short.

Born May 24, 1933, in Shalersville, Ohio, he was a son of the late Harold and Alice Short.


In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his son, David (Julie: deceased), his son, Steven (Sheryl), daughter, Laura Gazdak; grandchildren, Megan Nelson (Mike), Jen Burke (Joe), Brad Short, Leighan Croxen (Jeff), Lindsey Daugstrup (Christian), 8 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Sheila Wilkening.


Mr. Short was a graduate of Western Reserve University, now Case Western Reserve University. Working as an architect in the Cleveland area, he was head field architect on Gund Arena (Rocket Mortgage Arena), and Browns Stadium (First Energy Field). He was a member of the Mayfield Heights Jaycees, and served as Councilman in Highland Heights.


After retiring Wayne and Marge moved to Lakeland, Fl. Wayne took up golf, and fishing in the ponds. They also continued their joy entertaining with their friends at Schalamar Creek.


The family will receive friends at a Celebration of Wayne’s Life to be held at Di Cicco’s Funeral Home in Mayfield Heights, Ohio on Friday, November 25, 2022, from 1-3 pm.


Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or your favorite charity.
