After graduating from Eastern Michigan University in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Wayne joined the Dr Pepper / 7up beverage sales team in 1984 where he held multiple positions within the organization and most recently as Vice President of National Accounts, McDonald’s Team. In 2020, Wayne retired from Dr. Pepper after 35 years of service and relocated to sunny Lakeland, Florida to focus on his health and more importantly, his family. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Dorothy & Earnest Wittman, and daughter Makena Wittman. He is survived by his wife, Caren Wittman; his brothers John Wittman & Phoebe of Fairfax Station, VA, Russ Wittman & Dori of Trenton, MI, sister Alexis Wittman of Northport, MI and children Kathryn Wittman & Alex Fedorov of Austin, TX, Jenny Wittman & Joe Grochocki of Forest Park, IL, Michael Wittman of Wheaton, IL, Jake Wittman & Kylee Wittman of Lakeland FL. Wayne enjoyed the simple pleasures of watching sunsets in his backyard overlooking beautiful Lake Hollingsworth, traveling, and having tropical adventures with family and friends, renovating, and restoring their home, and landscaping projects that made him a Home Depot VIP. His curiosity for current events, politics and news was one of his many hobbies. He also loved creating photography art and was always interested in the newest tech gadgets. He held a special place in his heart for Maui, HI where he married Caren at Secret Beach and where his ashes will be spread. Wayne’s fun-loving, passionate, and kind personality made him the type of person that everyone was lucky to meet. Smart, witty, and hilarious, his “dad” jokes were never few and far between. His family and friends will always share many fond memories of their time with him. We are honored to celebrate his life and will never forget the love he gave in his own unique and warm way. Following the service, The Wittman Family will welcome friends and family from 4:00pm to 7:00pm to celebrate Wayne with a beverage and favorite memory.
