William F Wyllie

William Fredrick Wyllie was welcomed into his heavenly home on Friday, June 6, 2025. He passed away peacefully with his devoted wife by his side. He was 86. He spent his final days at Wedgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lakeland.

Bill, as he was known to his friends, was born on September 30, 1938, in Clearwater to Stanley Clarke Wyllie and Eugenia Tison Wyllie. He was raised in Tampa and graduated from Hillsborough High School. He moved to Lakeland to attend Florida Southern College where he graduated in 1961. While a student at Florida Southern, he met his future wife, Ellen Moore Wyllie who he married on October 12, 1959. Bill worked as an accountant and treasurer for several businesses in the Lakeland area and retired from the Florida Institute of Phosphate Research in 2007.

Bill was a member of Crystal Lake United Methodist church where he could usually be found ushering at the services. He was a member of the Demolay 50-year Legion of Honor, a long-standing member of Lakeland Lodge #91 F. & A.M., Scottish Rite KCCH, and Past Grand High Priest of Royal Arch Masons of Florida.

Bill was active in the Parent Teacher Association at Southwest Junior High School where both daughters were students and chaperoned many band trips at both Southwest Junior and Kathleen Senior High. He has been fondly remembered as a strong and quiet man who was always supportive of his children and grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his loving spouse of 65 years, Ellen Moore Wyllie; Daughters Mary Ellen (Wyllie) DeNardo and husband Mark of Lakeland, and Amy Lea (Wyllie) Schultz and husband Stephen Smith of Wendover, Ontario; Grandchildren John William Macauley and partner Katie of Lakeland, Elizabeth Anne (Wilder) Fogel and husband Joey of Homosassa, and Joseph Allen Macauley of Polk City; Nephew Stanley Clarke Wyllie III and wife Hazel of Tampa. He also had 2 great-grandsons, David Princeton Macauley and James William Fogel; great niece Rachel Wyllie; and two nieces and many great nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his brother Stanley Clarke Wyllie, Jr.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm with a light reception. Services will be on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 2:00 pm. Both services will take place at Heath Funeral Chapel, 328 South Ingraham Avenue, Lakeland, FL 33801. Masonic Services will be provided by Lakeland Lodge No. 91 F. & A.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in William’s memory to Residing Hope (formerly the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home), P.O. Box 6299, Deltona, Florida 32728.
